The Kennebec continues to be on fire with stripers distributed over a wide range of the river.
Regular anglers of ours, Ray T. and his son Evan pounded the daylights out of the fish on flies. Evan was the first to hook up on one of his dad’s saltwater muddlers. This was his first striper on a fly. Later fishing a rip, Ray nailed first a 29 1/2″ and then a 31″, the biggest stripers Ray has caught. His fly was one of our weighted Bunkerals.(Bunker/mackeral). The guys hooked/landed/lost other fish during the day. The pics show what appears to be the same fish. Actually it’s Ray’s 29 and 31 caught in the same spot.

Anglers Dennis W. and Jason F. spent the morning kicking fish butts. Dennis’ first cast with a 6″ blue/white flat tire nailed a 29 1/2 incher. Later Jason landed a 30″ on a white bucktail. Both guys hooked a number of other fish losing some but all and all a great day on the water with a couple of great guys.

Stripers are in! Didn’t have a trip today so I thought I’d go out for a couple of hours and poke around. Tried some of my usual places with a flyrod and had success. Using a 9wt. w/350 shooting head I had a fish take a swipe at the fly and then hooked the next two, a 22″ and 26″.
